Credited with making first free fall with a ripcord in 1919.
Founded the world’s first parachute manufacturing company : Irving Air Chute Company.
Established the famous Caterpillar Club - a pin awarded to those who bailed out of an airplane using an Irving parachute. More than 100,000 are believed to have been saved under his parachutes.
