The International Skydiving Museum & Hall of Fame was pleased to present the 2024 Path of Excellence Award to Jump For The Cause for significant contributions of enduring high value to the world of skydiving made in the 1980s and after.
About Jump For The Cause
Established in 1999 by Mallory Lewis, Brad Hood, Kate Cooper-Jensen, and Tony Domenico, Jump For The Cause raised funds for breast cancer research and care using big-way skydiving as a catalyst for fundraising. The all-female group’s goals also included setting new Women’s World Records and being role models for other women and young ladies.
Over the course of two decades, Jump For The Cause earned four FAI recognized Women’s World Records. On September 26, 2009, 181 women from 31 countries exited out of nine planes from 17,000 feet above Perris Valley, California, USA. To this day, the engineering feat that was their 181-way is the largest all-women formation skydive on record.
Prior records set by Jump For The Cause include a 151-way set in 2005, a 132-way set in 2002, and their initial original 118-way record set in 1999.
Collectively, the women of Jump For The Cause raised more than $1 million through such creative fundraising efforts as bake sales, T-shirt sales, a Dancing Under the Stars dinner party, and an Adult Pink Playhouse Carnival.
The 2009 record-setting big-way inspired the multi award winning film Pink Skies from Warp 8 Productions, produced by participating skydiver Gulcin Gilbert.
